A total of seven tornadoes have been confirmed in Oklahoma from Tuesday morning’s severe weather event, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS office in Tulsa has confirmed five tornadoes in eastern Oklahoma, with the NWS office in Norman confirming two in its coverage area with damage assessments ongoing.
An EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Ada with a path length of 3.7 miles. The Ada tornado developed on the west side of town near State Highway 1 and Barnes Avenue, then moved east-northeast through Ada, and dissipated northeast of East Central University and Arlington Center, according to a public information statement issued by NWS Norman.
A few mobile homes, utility poles, and trees were damaged along the path. An apartment complex received roof damage northeast of ECU.
Another EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Union Valley, causing damage to the town’s fire station and numerous trees.
Two tornadoes were confirmed in the Henryetta area, both rated as EF-1. Another EF-1 was confirmed in Morris.
EF-0 tornadoes were also confirmed in Eram and Checotah.
Straight line winds are said to be responsible for damage in southern and southeast Oklahoma, including areas in and around Marshall County, Durant, Atoka, and Hugo.
