The Hartshorne Fire Department announced the addition of two new fire trucks that will enhance the city’s emergency response capabilities and improve public safety for residents.

Hartshorne Fire Chief Gerry Barone unveiled the trucks at a recent city council meeting on Feb. 25, 2025.

According to the city, the purchase was made possible by funding from Pittsburg County through a quarter-cent county sales tax that is earmarked to support firefighting-related entities across the county.

The city said the new fire trucks are equipped with advanced firefighting technology and are designed to better serve the community’s growing needs by allowing the department to respond more efficiently to fires, rescues, and other emergencies.

“This acquisition underscores the county’s commitment to improving public safety by ensuring our local fire departments are equipped with the necessary resources to protect residents,” the city said in a press release. “The new fire trucks will play a critical role in increasing response times and operational effectiveness for the fire department.”
