With a winter storm expected to hit McAlester, All Saints Episcopal Church will open its doors as a warming shelter starting at noon Thursday, Jan. 9, and continuing through 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.
The shelter will welcome both people and pets, providing a safe space during the severe weather. Mother Janie Koch of All Saints Episcopal said PAWS of McAlester has generously offered crates, food, and litter to assist those with animals seeking shelter.
Koch also had this to say about the amount of help they’ve been offered in this time.
Humanity918, in collaboration with All Saints Episcopal and First United Methodist Church, is organizing the emergency shelter and coordinating a donation drive to assist with supplies. First United is also providing showers for those that need it, and will be running a bus back and forth.
