Pittsburg County Commissioners Declare April as Child Abuse Awareness Month

At Monday morning’s Pittsburg County Commissioner meeting, it was announced that a proclamation making April Child Abuse Awareness Month in Pittsburg County was agreed upon. Blair Christenberry with Choctaw Nation Indian Child Welfare spoke at the meeting to explain the proclamation in more depth.

Christenberry was joined by multiple members from different local agencies that specialize in child abuse and neglect. This goes hand in hand with National Child Abuse Prevention Month which is also during the month of April. The biggest goal is to raise awareness of and prevent child abuse in your community.
