Early voting for several local elections begins Thursday for voters in Pittsburg County.
Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.
Pittsburg County Election Board Secretary Tonya Barnes said early voting is open to all voters.
“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the County Election Board or State Election Board—from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines,” Barnes said.
Early voting is available Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pittsburg County Election Board located at 7 E Chickasaw Ave. in McAlester.
Municipal elections will be held in the following Pittsburg County towns and cities: Krebs, Hartshorne, Haileyville, Kiowa, and Quinton.
Pittsburg County school boards with elections on the ballot are Savanna and Indianola.
County school districts with a bond proposition on the ballot include Krebs, Haileyville, Indianola, and Kiowa. According to state law, school bond propositions must garner more than 60% of the vote in order to pass.
