Mayor Justin Few signed a proclamation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting declaring April 2025 as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month in McAlester.
The proclamation aims to raise awareness and promote inclusion, understanding, and acceptance for individuals with autism. It also highlights the city’s commitment to supporting families affected by the condition.
“Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month is a reminder for us to celebrate individuals with autism and foster a more inclusive community,” Few said. “McAlester is proud to observe this month and recognize the importance of supporting those with autism in our community.”
The city will join the global observance of Autism Awareness Month and World Autism Day to address the unique needs of individuals and families affected by autism.
