McAlester and Pittsburg County residents will have a chance to get outside and explore McAlester’s trail system during McAlester Trails Day later this month.
McAlester Trails Day is slated for Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McAlester Urban Trails Trailhead. Blake Lynch with McAlester Urban Trails stopped by McAlester Radio to talk more in depth about the event.
Activities are expected to include guided rides, family walks, community booths and interactive activities. Organizers say attendees can also participate in photo challenges and a “passport” program offering perks through local businesses.
Additional attractions will include giveaways, prizes and food trucks on site.
Lynch says the event is intended to highlight McAlester’s trail system, parks and public spaces while encouraging residents to explore outdoor recreation opportunities in the community.
The event is free and open to the public.
