A Canadian woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say she set fire to a camper and killed two dogs during an incident in Pittsburg County.
Julie Evans, 55, is charged in Pittsburg County District Court with first-degree arson, burglary, animal cruelty and trespassing.
According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies were called just before midnight on Oct. 5, 2025, to a home on Southeast Johnson Street in Canadian in reference to an arson.
Investigators reported Evans had allegedly gone to the property, where she was previously trespassed, and entered a camper belonging to another individual. A witness told deputies Evans was allegedly inside the camper killing one of the two dogs with a weapon before spraying lighter fluid.
The affidavit states Evans then exited the camper, continued spraying lighter fluid and set the fire before fleeing the scene.
Authorities say the fire was later extinguished, and two dogs were found dead inside the camper. Investigators documented damage to the camper and surrounding property.
According to the affidavit, the witness told deputies the incident may have been in retaliation after Evans was evicted from the property the day before.
Investigators also reported the camper had been locked, and that Evans did not allegedly have access to a key.
Evans was arrested on Tuesday, May 5, and is currently being held over on a $350,000 bond.
