A McAlester teenager is facing felony firearm and drug charges following a May arrest that investigators say happened while he was already on felony probation in Pittsburg County.
John Edward Price Jr., 19, is charged with possession of a firearm after conviction or during probation, along with multiple misdemeanor drug and paraphernalia charges.
According to a probable cause affidavit, McAlester police Sgt. Nick Mattioda recognized Price near South Third Street and Seminole Avenue on May 22 and knew he had outstanding warrants.
Investigators reported Price was carrying a bag containing digital scales, suspected methamphetamine and multiple pills later identified as oxycodone, hydrocodone and sildenafil citrate.
Authorities also reported recovering a loaded Smith and Wesson .380 pistol from Price’s back pocket, along with additional ammunition found inside the bag.
According to investigators, Price was already on felony probation tied to a prior Pittsburg County case involving endangering others while eluding police and bringing contraband into a jail or penal institution.
Court records also show Price is facing two separate misdemeanor cases filed earlier this year.
Court records also show Price is facing two separate misdemeanor cases filed earlier this year. One case stems from an investigation into the alleged theft of two lottery tickets from an EZ Mart on East Electric Avenue in McAlester. Investigators reported surveillance video helped officers identify Price as the suspect.
In a separate case filed after an April 29 incident, authorities allege Price followed a woman’s vehicle near East Comanche Avenue before punching and shattering the driver’s side window of her Chevrolet Malibu.
Investigators estimated the damage at about $500. Price was charged with larceny of merchandise from a retailer and malicious injury to property under $1,000.
Price was able to make his cumulative $19,000 bond, as he was released on Tuesday, May 26.
