Quinton Man Charged With Domestic Assault By Strangulation

A Quinton man is facing a felony charge after authorities say he strangled a woman during a domestic disturbance earlier this week.

Brent Allen Hilton, 50, is charged in Pittsburg County District Court with domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Pittsburg County deputies responded May 27 to a residence on Fairview Road in Quinton in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Investigators reported Hilton appeared to be under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant when deputies arrived. Authorities said the victim was coughing, choking and panicking as deputies attempted to speak with her.

According to the affidavit, the victim told deputies Hilton choked her during an argument. She reported having difficulty breathing and believed she may have blacked out.

Deputies reported observing lacerations on the victim’s arms, swelling and redness on her face, and redness and contusions on both sides of her neck.

Authorities arrested Hilton and transported him to the Pittsburg County Criminal Justice Center.

Court records show prosecutors have also filed a sentencing enhancement alleging Hilton has prior felony convictions in Pittsburg County.

Records indicate Hilton previously pleaded guilty to assault and battery on a police officer in 2018 and domestic abuse-assault and battery in 2020. Prosecutors have also cited prior convictions for burglary in the second degree and knowingly concealing stolen property in seeking the sentencing enhancement.

Hilton is currently being held over on a $100,000 bond.
