The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said one person is dead and two others were injured following a Friday evening shooting at a music festival held at Rotary Park in McAlester.
OSBI said officers from the McAlester Police Department responded to Rotary Park at around 10:45 p.m. Friday to a reported shooting and found three victims, two males and one female, with gunshot wounds.
“All three victims were treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital,” a statement from OSBI states. “The female and one of the male victims are currently in stable condition and expected to make full recoveries. The second male victim passed away from his injuries.”
The shooting occurred during the Wop Music Festival featuring local entertainment. Similar events featuring the some of the same artists have been held at Rotary Park over the last few years without incident.
A video showing the moments leading up to the shooting shows the alleged shooter drawing a gun and firing five to seven shots towards a group of people. The video was forwarded to investigators after it was viewed.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, according to OSBI.

OSBI said 20-year-old Jeshaud Washington was arrested and booked into the Pittsburg County Jail on charges related to the shooting.
“This is still an ongoing investigation,” OSBI’s press release states. “Once the investigation is complete, the OSBI will provide their comprehensive report to the Pittsburg County District Attorney’s Office to determine official charges.”
