Man Arrested on Second-Degree Murder Charge in Deadly Boating Crash


A 25-year-old Eufaula man was arrested Monday on a second-degree murder charge in connection with a deadly boating accident that occurred in May 2024.

Michael Reagan is accused of causing the death of Charles Gustafson after Reagan, while reportedly operating the boat under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, crashed it into shore. According to an affidavit, Reagan had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.12 and had been smoking marijuana “all day” leading up to the incident.

During the crash, Reagan was reportedly driving the boat with Gustafson and others aboard. Gustafson died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Reagan has been charged with second-degree murder and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. He posted a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Pittsburg County Court for further proceedings.
