The McAlester Public Library has been operating at a temporary location since early 2025, relocating from its usual site on North Second Street due to total renovation.
Library manager Heath Stanfield joined KNED for an interview Tuesday afternoon to share updates on the renovation project and discuss summer events planned for the community. Stanfield detailed the renovation timeline and the current progress, assuring residents that the library remains open during construction.
“We’re not closed,” Stanfield said. “We’ve been operating at our temporary location at 520 E. Smith Ave. since January.”
He also highlighted a packed summer schedule, with events planned nearly every day in June. Stanfield shared a few of those upcoming activities during the interview.
