A Tulsa woman faces multiple felony charges after authorities say she attempted to smuggle methamphetamine and other contraband near a state prison with two children in her vehicle.
Mahpue Roxanne George, 28, was charged in Pittsburg County District Court with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy, and bringing contraband into a penal institution. She also faces a felony count of using a cellphone in the commission of a crime.
According to an affidavit, George was pulled over June 25 after reportedly driving erratically near the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center. The blue Nissan Sentra she was driving had allegedly entered the restricted facility grounds without authorization, turned around at a mechanic’s shop, and fled.
Agents with the Criminal Interdiction Division stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of North Main Street. Inside were George and two minor children, along with packages wrapped in electrical tape, a method authorities say is commonly used to smuggle items into prison systems.
A K-9 unit reportedly alerted to the vehicle, and a search allegedly turned up approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine, 36.85 grams of marijuana, about a pound of brown leafy material, three cellphones, lighters, SIM tools, earbuds, and rolling papers.
In a supplemental court filing, prosecutors noted that George was previously convicted of a felony in May — less than two months earlier — for conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance in a penal institution. She received a 10-year suspended sentence in that case, which was filed in Hughes County under case number CF-2024-1.
The new charges carry significant penalties: up to life in prison for the methamphetamine trafficking charge and up to 10 years for possession with intent to distribute.
George is currently being held over on a $50,000 bond.
