City of McAlester Gives Storm Debris Update

Storm debris removal continues throughout the City of McAlester as crews work through neighborhoods affected by the June 8 severe weather.
As of July 8, 2025, a Community Services crew was working along Jackson Avenue, and crews have completed cleanup on east/west streets in Phase 3 between Carl Albert Parkway and Jackson Avenue. Crews will complete cleanup of east/west streets in the Phase 3 quadrant to Electric Avenue, then work on the north/south streets in the quadrant.
Cleanup progress varies depending on the amount and location of debris, with some streets requiring extensive effort. In certain cases, heavily impacted properties have taken multiple truckloads to clear. Some areas of the city may still have debris that was missed or placed too far from the curb. Residents are encouraged to place all remaining debris curbside to ensure it can be collected when crews pass through their area.
Residents are encouraged to contact Community Services at (918) 421-4922 to report a missed pickup.
Due to the scale of the cleanup and the unpredictable distribution of debris, there is no specific schedule for when crews will reach individual neighborhoods. Cleanup efforts are ongoing each day.
