A McAlester man was arrested last week after police said he showed signs of intoxication following a crash at North Main Street and East Carl Albert Parkway.
Just after 6 p.m. on July 17, officers responded to a reported accident that involved Coty Grogan, 32, at the intersection of North Main Street and East Carl Albert Parkway. When the police arrived, they found a Ford Mustang in the middle of the intersection with its airbags deployed, but with no one inside the vehicle.
The other vehicle, driven by Grogan, was located in a nearby parking lot. Grogan told officers the Mustang ran a red light and hit him, and that a woman had fled from the other vehicle before police arrived.
Police say Grogan showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, unsteady balance, and the smell of alcohol. He refused a field sobriety test but later agreed to a breath test, which showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.24, which is three times the legal limit in Oklahoma.
Grogan was also arrested in December for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, making this recent charge his second alcohol/driving-related charge he has received in the last 8 months.
He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
