MPL Assistant Manager Highlights February/March Events on KNED

The McAlester Public Library is continuing operations at its temporary location as renovations near completion, while preparing for a full slate of events to keep the community involved.

Assistant Manager Lacey Sudderth joined KNED this week to highlight upcoming programs, beginning with a Meet the Author event at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the William P. Mullen Park StoryWalk®, 309 W. Springer Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Sudderth said families can expect an interactive outdoor reading experience.

Participants will stroll along the StoryWalk® and read “Annie Bea: The Colorful Day” by local author Kim Myers of Simply Country Ranch. The children’s book follows Annie Bea the dog through a day of learning and colorful surprises.

The event will include a public reading and an opportunity for families to meet the author. Library officials encourage residents to bring their children and enjoy the outdoor program as part of the library’s February activities. Sudderth details all of the events planned for the month of March, while also giving updates on the renovations of the library.

Sudderth mentions that while there is not a date set in stone for the grand reopening, it is planned to be sometime later this year. If would like to hear the interview in its entirety, click here:
