A McAlester man is facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities say he shot his mother at a residence earlier this month.
Gage Luther Dillon, 28, has been charged with first-degree murder, according to court documents filed in Choctaw Nation District Court.
According to an affidavit, deputies were dispatched April 9, 2026, to a residence on Bristow Point Road in McAlester in reference to a reported shooting. The reporting party told dispatch that a male had shot a woman in the head.
Investigators reported arriving at the scene and locating a male, later identified as Dillon, seated in the yard. A witness indicated he was the shooter, and deputies detained him without incident.
According to the affidavit, deputies entered the residence and found a woman lying on a bed with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the forehead. Authorities reported no signs of life, and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The affidavit states law enforcement secured the residence and established a crime scene perimeter while waiting for investigators and federal authorities to arrive due to both individuals being Native American.
Dillon told investigators that he and his mother had been arguing throughout the day about a pickup located at the residence. He stated that the argument became heated, with both yelling at each other, and continuing as they went inside the home.
Investigators reported Dillon said the victim went to a bedroom while the argument continued, and he went to another room where he retrieved a firearm. Dillon stated he returned to the doorway of the bedroom, where the argument continued, and said at one point the victim told him she was going to break his Xbox. He also told investigators the victim pushed him, causing him to hit a wall.
According to the affidavit, Dillon told investigators he told the victim to kill herself and then told her he was going to kill her, to which she allegedly responded for him to do it.
Dillon told officers that the victim stood up from the bed, and he fired one shot that missed. He then cocked the firearm and fired a second shot, which struck the victim in the forehead.
Authorities say Dillon was transported to the Pittsburg County Criminal Justice Center, where he was booked on the murder charge. Court records show his bond is set at $1 million. The case is under review by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
