Stuart used a big middle innings surge, a six-run seventh, and an outstanding pitching performance to roll past Crowder, 14-2 on Monday in this weeks edition of the Pitt-8 Game of the Week
Dallin Whitaker, Cade Carlton and Easton Dominic combined for six hits, five runs and eight RBIs, fueling an offensive attack that produced 11 hits and took advantage of multiple Crowder errors.
Stuart started the scoring in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive errors before Zack Luker followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0. The Hornets added to the lead in the third when Whitaker launched a three-run home run to left field, extending the advantage to 6-0. Here is how the homerun sounded on Rock 105.1 FM.:
Dominic handled the rest on the mound. The right-handed Freshman went six innings, allowing five hits and two runs, both unearned, while striking out seven and walking three to earn the win. Cody Cook closed things out with a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two.
Stuart put the game out of reach in the seventh, scoring six runs on four hits. Nolan Lindley drew a bases-loaded walk, another error brought in a run, and Carlton and Dominic each delivered two-run doubles to cap the inning.
Carlton, led Stuart with three hits. He and Whitaker each drove in three runs, while Luker and Dominic added multiple hits. Stuart also drew six walks, with Luker and Cook each earning two.
Crowder’s offense was led by Dax Johnson, who drove in two runs from the No. 8 spot, while Travis Chancellor collected two hits. Five other players recorded one hit apiece. Cash Clifft took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs, three earned, over 2 2/3 innings.

Crowder and Stuart both turn to postseason play now as Stuart will host Pittsburg for Districts on Tuesday, with Crowder getting Indianola and Olive at home on Thursday later this week.
