A McAlester man is facing felony charges following a reported domestic disturbance involving a pregnant woman earlier this month.
Corey Gage Walley, 23, was arrested April 19, and is charged in Pittsburg County District Court with domestic assault and battery on a pregnant woman and malicious injury to property.
Officers were dispatched to a home on West Delaware Avenue after a caller reported a woman had been shoved and a door kicked in. When police arrived, they made contact with the victim.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim said she had been asleep when Walley began going through her phone. She told officers Walley called a number saved in the phone, which led to an argument.
During the confrontation, the victim said Walley smashed her phone. She told officers she tried to push him back, but he then allegedly struck her, hitting her in the head before reportedly striking her again in the stomach.
The victim told officers she was approximately 14 weeks pregnant at the time and said Walley was aware of the pregnancy.
Police later located Walley near South Fifth Street and East Choctaw Avenue and took him into custody. He was booked into the Pittsburg County Jail.
Walley is currently being held over on a $15,000 bond and was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
