The McAlester City Council met this past Tuesday for their first of two regularly scheduled meetings. The council voted to approve the submission of an application to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to implement a Phase III project to upgrade and modernize the lighting fixtures in the Federal Building.
If this is awarded, this will be the third of the City’s buildings to be reconstructed after City Hall and the Stipe Center, and it does not require a match by the city.
One of the final approvals came on a vote to surplus a property located between Big V Feeds and McAlester Radio on behalf of the McAlester National Defense and Industrial Development Authority.
