Pittsburg County Free Fair Update

We have given you plenty of updates on the event side of things and registration details for the Pittsburg County Free Fair taking place from Sep. 3-7 but, what else is at the Fair?  Events range from the Aggie Olympics on Thursday morning to the Livestock Shows on Saturday morning.

The Youth Day begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday and includes demonstrations by the McAlester Fire Department, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Management, Beekeepers Association, McAlester Library and emergency Management.

The participants will also enjoy performances by Magician Marty Westerman and Boocoos the Clown.  They will also have the opportunity to visit a petting zoo and the Clydesdales.  The Poultry and Rabbit exhibits are always of interest to several fairgoers.

There are judging contests, and a tractor driving contest held on Thursday and Friday mornings for 4-H, FFA and FCCLA members. For more information, you can reach out to 918-470-5783

On top of need-to-know registration dates that we recently provided, here are some other need-to-know tidbits. For those wanting to become a vendor, there are spaces available for games, Information Food & Concessions, and campaign booths.  A $15-$50 rental fee is charged.

Prices are based on what type of organization is being represented.  The registration fee covers the entirety of the fair.  For questions or application requests, text 918-470-5783. The fair will take place at the South Expo Center in McAlester from Sept. 3-7.

It’s that time of the year as the Pittsburg County Free Fair is set to roll back through the Southeast Expo Center in less than a month on September 3rd – Sep. 7th. There are a couple of things that you need to know as the dates approach, and we’ll start with entry deadlines.

Poultry and Rabbit Entry deadline is Aug. 17.  All entries must be brought to the Expo Hall between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Aug. 17th for poultry testing and rabbit verification. This is the only date for testing and verification.

Livestock entries must be postmarked by August 23.  Non-Animal entries are accepted in the Expo, Tuesday, September 3 from 12 – 7:00 pm. We will have more information, and more stories planned as the five-day event approaches.
