At Monday evening’s meeting, the McAlester School Board approved a series of important actions that will impact the district’s budget, policies, and extracurricular programs for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The board also approved the meeting dates for the 2025 school year and ratified the revised version of Board Policy DA, which addresses sexual harassment within the district.
The board authorized the creation of a new activity fund account, 883, to support the Band Instrument Fund. Temporary Appropriations for the Junior High Event Center Bond Fund 35 were also approved, ensuring continued funding for the district’s event center projects.
The board also approved several extracurricular trip requests, including a trip to Ireland for the Native American Club in July 2025, a wrestling tournament in Kansas City for the wrestling team in December, and travel for band students to Denison, Texas, in January 2025. Additionally, MHS Choir, Theatre, and Art students were approved to visit Nashville, Tennessee, in March 2025.
Lastly, the board approved a list of students eligible to graduate early in the 2024-2025 school year, in accordance with district graduation policies.
