Oak Hill Cemetery Joins National Wreaths Across America Day to Honor Veterans


Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester, has been selected as an official location for the 2024 National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 14. The cemetery joins over 4,500 locations nationwide to Remember, Honor, and Teach by placing wreaths at veterans’ graves.

This year, more than three million volunteers will participate in Wreaths Across America, a national movement that honors fallen veterans, supports current service members, and educates future generations about the sacrifices made for freedom. At Oak Hill Cemetery, wreaths will be placed at the Unknown Soldier Memorial, with support from local organizations, including the City of McAlester and Scout Troop #404.

“We are grateful for the dedication of volunteers who help us honor those who served,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America.
