The McAlester Board of Education met Friday morning in a special session to discuss the employment of now-former MHS Head Football Coach Forrest Mazey and whether to accept his resignation. After a 30-minute executive session, the board reconvened and announced it had accepted Mazey’s resignation. Here is the statement from the Board after exiting executive session.
Mazey faced charges in November related to an alleged incident in July, during which he was accused of pointing a firearm at another person and reckless conduct with a firearm. He leaves McAlester with a 52-19 record over six seasons, including two state championship final appearances.
Adam Hass served as interim head coach starting in November after Mazey was suspended for an investigation.
