McAlester Man Arrested on Child Abuse Charge

A McAlester man faces child abuse charges after an incident involving a minor in Pittsburg County. Timothy Holt was arrested following a report of injuries to the child. According to an affidavit, Holt allegedly caused red abrasions on the victim’s face and neck, as well as contusions on the child’s backside.

Holt reportedly admitted to police that he had been drinking wine and using medicinal marijuana before spanking the child. Authorities say he was shown photos of the injuries, at which point he told officers he “might’ve accidentally hit them in the face.”

The affidavit further states that Holt claimed he did not intend to strike the child so hard but insisted he should not be punished for spanking the victim. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27.
