Suspect in custody following standoff

A suspect is now in custody after a tactical team from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol assisted the McAlester Police Department Friday evening with a barricaded suspect in McAlester.

Pittsburg County Jail records show Brian Michael Anderson was booked into the jail on initial complaints of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery, threaten to perform an act of violence, malicious injury or destruction of property $1,000 or more, and obstructing an officer.

McAlester Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Kirk Johnston said officers from the department originally responded to a call of reported domestic abuse Friday evening at a residence on East Comanche Ave.

After officers arrived, a male subject barricaded himself inside a residence. Johnston said the man was alone inside the residence.

After assistance was requested by MPD, an OHP tactical team responded and took Anderson into custody after 9 p.m. Friday evening.
