McAlester City Council to Discuss Budget Amendments, Mowing Contract, and New Investigations in March Meeting


The McAlester City Council will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, March 11, with a full agenda addressing a range of routine and pressing matters. The meeting will begin with a consent agenda, which includes approving the minutes from the February 25, 2025, special meeting and discussing financial matters.

Several reappointments are slated for approval, including James Bland to the McAlester Regional Health Center Authority and several individuals to the McAlester Regional Airport Advisory Board.

The meeting’s scheduled business will feature updates from the Choctaw Nation Economic Development, led by Stephanie Mervine, on current initiatives and plans.  Additionally, the council will consider approving a professional mowing service agreement with Limestone Gap Construction, a $21,800 per mowing contract for Spring 2025 and Fall 2026.

Other items on the agenda include a $13,500 contract award for CDBG Manhole Rehabilitation, a deed transfer of the library property to the Southeast Oklahoma Library System, and the creation of a tourism board.

The meeting is open to the public.
