Sample ballots now available online after delay

Voters in Pittsburg County can now view their sample ballots online for the April 1 elections following a delay.

“There had been a delay and (the site) was updated yesterday and everyone should be able to access it now,” Assistant Pittsburg County Election Board Secretary Christy Holt said Tuesday morning.

Sample ballots for the April 1 elections are available for download online from the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. A copy can also be picked up from the Pittsburg County Election Board during normal business hours.

“If the OK Voter Portal indicates that you have no sample ballots available, it means you are not eligible to vote in an upcoming election,” Pittsburg County Election Board Secretary Tonya Barnes said in a statement. “We recommend checking the OK Voter Portal to make sure you have an election before heading to the polls.”

Municipal elections will be held in the following Pittsburg County towns and cities: Krebs, Hartshorne, Haileyville, Kiowa, and Quinton.

Pittsburg County school boards with elections on the ballot are Savanna and Indianola.

Pittsburg County school districts with a bond proposition on the ballot include Krebs, Haileyville, Indianola, and Kiowa. According to state law, school bond propositions must garner more than 60% of the vote in order to pass.
