McAlester City Council to Discuss Appointments, Grants, and Public Hearings at Tuesday Meeting


The McAlester City Council will meet tonight to discuss several key items. On the agenda are the approval of minutes from the March 25 meetings and claims from March 19 to April 1.

Council members will also consider the mayor’s appointments of Lyn Roberts to the McAlester Board of Adjustment and Michael Hull to the Planning Commission. Additionally, they will review a tort claim and vote on a Mutual Aid Agreement with the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office.

A public hearing will address renaming Karen Court to Grace Court, and the council will consider accepting a $5.8 million USDA wildfire defense grant. Other items include a $70,000 contract for land clearing related to the grant and a Use Permit for medical staff facilities on Strong Blvd.

This meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the first floor of City Hall.
