EOC: Field assessments complete, staging area to close

Submitted by Pittsburg County/McAlester Emergency Management

Pittsburg County Emergency Management has completed initial structural damage assessments across the areas impacted by Monday night’s tornado.

While crews have finished field assessments, the data is still being compiled and reviewed to determine final damage numbers.

Earlier today, crews were divided into five divisions across the storm-affected area. Teams documented structural damage and spoke with residents to better understand the extent of loss and need. This information will help inform ongoing response efforts and may support the county’s pursuit of state and federal disaster relief.

With the completion of field assessments, the staging area in Blanco will officially close this evening. Beginning tomorrow, all emergency management operations will be coordinated from the Pittsburg County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

The Pittsburg water plant remains without power, and a water buffalo is available at Pittsburg Public School for any residents who are still without water service.

Pittsburg County Emergency Management continues to work with local, state, and tribal partners to support the community during recovery.

The county extends its sincere thanks to all emergency responders, utility crews, government agencies, volunteers, and organizations that have stepped up to help in this critical time.

Final damage figures and additional updates will be released as information becomes available. Residents who have not yet reported property damage are still encouraged to do so at www.damage.ok.gov.
