Hartshorne Brothers Face Felony Charges After Drug Raid Near High School

Jerome and Rodney McClendon

Two brothers are facing multiple felony charges after a multi-agency drug raid at their Hartshorne residence uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, illegal firearms, and evidence of drug distribution just over 100 feet from Hartshorne high school.

Jerome McClendon, 71, and Rodney McClendon, 59, were arrested June 3 following the execution of a search warrant at 701 S. 6th Street. Both are charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, cultivation, conspiracy, and illegal possession of firearms as convicted felons.

Investigators said the residence emitted strong odors of marijuana and chemicals associated with narcotics. In Jerome McClendon’s room, officers allegedly found meth, marijuana, and paraphernalia. Rodney McClendon’s room contained similar substances, grinders, and pellet rifles resembling real firearms.

According to reports, fifteen marijuana plants were found growing behind the home. Neither brother held a license to cultivate.

During interviews, both men admitted to possessing methamphetamine. Jerome told officers he had recently traded small amounts of meth for items like tools and a headlamp.

The affidavit states that three women and two other men were also detained. Brandi Gray admitted to buying meth from Jerome and had a small amount in a nearby vehicle, which was impounded after officers discovered additional drug-related items. Jerica Trueblood was found with an uncapped needle.

Two men were released after questioning; their phones were seized as part of the investigation.

Authorities say the home was a known drug hub, with foot traffic and drug activity posing a risk to the nearby Hartshorne High School, just 107 feet away. Rodney was given a $75,000 bond and Jerome received a $100,000 bond, according to online court records.
