A Hartshorne man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting a woman, robbing her, and illegally possessing a firearm during a violent domestic incident on June 6, authorities said.
Colton Leon Chaney, 35, was arrested June 6 after deputies responded to a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. about a woman screaming for help near Shelton Road. A resident had reported that the woman rang their doorbell and fled toward a neighbor’s home as a truck drove off.
According to an affidavit, she was later found with road rash, a head injury, and other visible wounds. The victim told deputies that Chaney had struck her, strangled her, dragged her in and out of a vehicle, and thrown her from the moving truck.
Reports state that Chaney also kept the victim’s phone to prevent her from calling 911. Nearby residents heard her screams and contacted authorities. She was hospitalized with a fractured skull and later transferred to Saint Francis in Tulsa for further treatment. A medical report confirmed head trauma, bruising around her neck, and multiple contusions.
Deputies allegedly found blood inside Chaney’s truck and later located him at a residence in Latimer County. He was arrested, treated for a minor injury, and booked into the Pittsburg County jail.
Chaney was charged with first-degree robbery, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, and domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm.
During the investigation, deputies impounded Chaney’s vehicle after spotting ammunition inside. A search of his residence on Shelton Road uncovered more ammunition and a Kel-Tec .223 rifle hidden in a cabin. Chaney, a convicted felon, is barred from possessing firearms, and thus was charged for possessing a firearm after a former felony conviction.
Chaney was given a $275,000 cumulative bond for all charges and was ordered to have no contact with the victim. His next court date is set for July 3rd.
