A McAlester man with a lengthy felony record is facing new charges after police say he assaulted a woman during a domestic incident and, in a separate case, threw an object at a moving car, damaging the vehicle.
Roderick Lee Miller, 40, is charged with felony throwing an object at a motor vehicle and felony domestic assault and battery, according to affidavits filed by the McAlester Police Department.
The first incident occurred on April 26, when a juvenile female told officers that a man allegedly threw a rock at her 2017 Mercedes-Benz while she was driving through a neighborhood near A Street and Seneca Avenue. The rock broke the driver-side headlight. The suspect, later identified as Miller, allegedly ran into the street and threw the object after shouting at the driver, who had turned around at the end of the road.
Multiple witnesses confirmed that Miller threw an object at the vehicle.
According to an affidavit, police were called to a second incident involving Miller on June 18 at a residence on South 3rd Street, where a woman reported that Miller had assaulted her during a domestic dispute. According to police, Miller allegedly demanded money from the victim and then dragged her back into the house when she attempted to leave. She told officers that Miller tried to slam her to the ground during the struggle. Officers observed visible scratches on her neck and behind her ear, consistent with her account.
According to court records, Miller has at least six prior felony convictions in Pittsburg County, including attempted robbery, burglary, conspiracy to bring contraband into a penal institution, malicious injury to property, and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction. His most recent sentence was partially revoked in 2023, and in January 2025, he was ordered to obtain a drug and alcohol assessment as a condition of his suspended sentence.
He is currently being held over on a cumulative bond of $60,000 for both cases.
