City Offers Update on Storm Debris Removal

City of McAlester crews have completed storm debris removal west of Main Street from Electric Avenue to Carl Albert Parkway. The City is now shifting its focus to the next phases of cleanup throughout the community.

Anyone needing debris removal is encouraged to contact the Community Service Department office at 918-421-4922.

Crews have restarted debris removal efforts west of Main Street, heading north from Electric Avenue. A significant concentration of debris remains near the Northgate Avenue area, particularly between A Street and Hickory Avenue, covering an estimated four-block by eight-block section. Crews expect to finish this area June 30, 2025 or shortly thereafter.

The next targeted area includes neighborhoods north of Stonewall Avenue, where debris is more sporadic but still present in small clusters. Crews expect to reach North Avenue, near the northern edge of city limits, within the next few days.

Following this, teams will begin work on the northeast quadrant of the city, east of Main Street.

Tractor crews will begin along Washington Avenue on the east side of town and work their way north, eventually meeting other crews coming from the north end.

Once all areas north of Carl Albert Parkway are addressed, remaining debris cleanup will continue across the southern portion of the city, including the remainder of the Third Ward and all of the Second Ward, particularly the neighborhoods surrounding Carl Albert Parkway.
