The McAlester Police Department said a man was treated and released for minor injuries following a Tuesday morning shooting in McAlester.
MPD Det. Lt. Kirk Johnston said officers were dispatched Tuesday morning at 8:51 a.m. to a residence on South 9th Street in McAlester after a man told dispatchers he shot another man.
According to McAlester Central Dispatch audio obtained through Broadcastify, dispatchers told officers the shooter said the shooting occurred following an argument and that the victim was hit in the chest. Dispatchers then told officers the man who was shot walked away from the residence.
Johnston said responding officers located the man near the intersection of South 9th Street and Wyandotte Avenue. Medics from the McAlester Fire Department transported the man to the McAlester Regional Health Center.
According to Johnston, the man was treated and released with minor injuries.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence on South 9th Street for the scene to be processed by investigators, Johnston said. The shooter and a witness were both detained during the investigation, according to Johnston.
Johnston said once the report is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
The MPD Spokesman also said the identities of the shooter and the victim are being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
