Eufaula Man Receives Second Felony Charge in Six Days

A McIntosh County man previously charged with arson is now facing additional felony charges after authorities say he assaulted and detained his ex-girlfriend during a domestic incident days earlier.

Billy Dell Mitchell Jr., 24, was formally charged this week with kidnapping and domestic abuse–assault and battery in connection with a June 29 incident at a residence on East Indian Trail in Eufaula. According to an affidavit filed by the District 18 District Attorney’s Office, Mitchell allegedly pushed the victim onto a bed, held her down, and blocked her from leaving the home despite her pleas.

A juvenile witness told investigators she heard the victim yelling for Mitchell to let her go. The incident was reported to the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office by a family member of the victim.

Prosecutors say Mitchell has a prior felony conviction for domestic assault and battery by strangulation in Haskell County. He pleaded guilty in 2024 and was serving a seven-year deferred sentence at the time of the June incident.

Mitchell was already facing a third-degree arson charge filed last week, stemming from a separate incident on July 1 in which he allegedly set fire to the same victim’s clothing in the backyard of a Longtown residence.

He was given an aggregate bond of $150,000 for all charges and was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
