Storm Debris Cleanup Almost Complete

Crews from the City of McAlester continue working across town to remove storm debris following recent severe weather events. Cleanup completed a significant amount of Phase 3, including Green Meadows and the surrounding area, as work continues July 14, 2025 in the northeast quadrant of city limits.

Street crews are focused on a two-block area near Hutchison Park, where storm damage was especially severe and resembled conditions consistent with a tornado touchdown. The area sustained significant tree and structural debris.

A Utilities crew returned and is working along Ashland Avenue, moving south. Parks Department teams, with tractors and heavy equipment, are operating throughout the same area, helping with widespread brush and tree limb removal.
The area north of Carl Albert Parkway to Electric Avenue, and from Main Street eastward, is now considered complete — pending any new material being placed at the curb since crews left.

City officials estimate that cleanup could be completed in the current zone within the next couple of days. If progress continues as scheduled, work might shift to Third Ward by Wednesday.

Residents should call 918-421-4922 for any missed debris in the completed areas.
