Mayor Justin Few stopped by the KNED studios this week to talk about an issue that affects nearly every resident in town. From long-standing concerns and more, the conversation offered a closer look at how the city is addressing a topic that often sparks debate, street repairs and the work that goes into them.
Mayor Few wanted to shed some light on a few “misconceptions,” and included that Oklahoma is the only state in the union where municipalities do not get Ad Valorem.
Few also talked about how they decide which street gets renovated or resurfaced in which order. He pointed out that the city had a survey done by a company that used Lidar on all roads in McAlester, to help them prioritize certain roads that need repair.
