Longtown Man Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges Dating Back to 2021

A Longtown man with a history of violent and drug-related offenses was recently taken into custody on outstanding warrants tied to felony charges filed in 2021 and 2022.

Travis Allen Brown, 31,  allegedly faces serious charges, including shooting with intent to kill, possession of a sawed-off shotgun or rifle, and possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number from a 2021 case.

Court records reveal the shooting incident involved Brown allegedly firing multiple shots at a woman while driving on State Highway 113 near Canadian Shores in March 2021. The victim identified Brown as the shooter after reviewing photographs. Brown initially claimed a friend was responsible, but law enforcement placed him under arrest for reckless conduct with a firearm following the identification.

According to an affidavit, Brown was originally held on a $100,000 bond, which was later reduced to $40,000 with conditions including home confinement, an ankle monitor, no contact with the victim, and mandated mental health treatment.

Under a plea agreement, the shooting charge was amended to assault with a dangerous weapon, and Brown received a four-year deferred sentence contingent on completing a mental health court program.

However, court records indicate Brown was sanctioned in late 2022 after allegedly failing to report a job loss to the mental health court, resulting in a seven-day jail stay. Brown was subsequently removed from mental health court.

In 2022, Brown was charged with distributing marijuana and possessing it with the intent to sell after a digital forensic investigation of his cellphone revealed photos and videos showing marijuana being packaged for sale. This included scenes with children present during the suspected drug packaging process.

The investigation began when a mental health court staff member flagged suspicious content found on Brown’s phone. Screenshots of drug-related conversations referencing a Facebook user were also recovered, according to an affidavit.

Brown had been wanted on these outstanding warrants for several months before his recent arrest. He is now in custody with a $90,000 bond.
