The McAlester Police Department identified a deceased individual found Tuesday morning as the subject of a Silver Alert issued Monday evening.
McAlester Police Det. Lt. Kirk Johnston said officers responded Tuesday morning to a report of a body found in a wooded area between North A Street and North Main Street near West Monroe Avenue in McAlester.
Johnston identified the deceased individual found as 60-year-old Robert Nelms.
A Silver Alert was issued Monday evening for Nelms
According to the alert, Nelms was last seen on foot on Aug. 3. The alert was issued due to Nelms having a medical condition that altered his mental status.
“Nelms was found in what appeared to be a deep dry creek bed,” Johnston said in a Tuesday statement. “At this time, no foul play is suspected.”
