A Sunday shooting of a man by the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department is under investigation by a state agency.
In a Monday press release, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said the agency was requested by the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting by one of their deputies.
According to OSBI, deputies responded to a call in Eufaula, near the intersection of South 4142 Road and East 1168 Road, regarding an individual making threats.
“When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with an adult male suspect, who was inside a residence,” the OSBI release states. “When the suspect exited the home, he brandished a knife and moved towards deputies.”
OSBI said deputies made several commands to the man to drop the knife, but he did not comply with the deputies’ commands.”
The press release states shots were fired, and the suspect was injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition, OSBI said.
No deputies at the scene were injured, according to OSBI.
“This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. The OSBI appreciates the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office and the Eufaula Police Department for their continued assistance with this investigation,” the press release states.
