McAlester Mayor Justin Few visited McAlester Radio for the first time in 2026 to provide an update on the state of the city, addressing several issues facing residents.
Few opened the interview by discussing snow and ice removal, a major concern following winter weather that moved into the area in late January. He outlined the city’s response to the conditions, detailing the efforts required to keep roads passable and explaining how crews prioritize and carry out snow and ice clearing during severe weather.
The mayor also addressed the city’s data-driven Pavement Program, which focuses on improving road conditions across McAlester. Few said street conditions remain one of the most common concerns raised by residents and explained how the program uses data to assess road needs, prioritize projects and guide long-term maintenance planning.
Few said the program is designed to provide a more efficient and transparent approach to improving city streets as the city continues to address infrastructure needs.
