Three adults were arrested and two children were placed in state custody after officers executing a search warrant found drugs, firearms, cash and unsafe living conditions inside a Hartshorne home Jan. 29, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Officer Taylor Tate of the Hartshorne Police Department executed the warrant at a residence on Chestnut Avenue, assisted by the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Haileyville Police Department. The affidavit states the warrant was obtained due to ongoing child welfare concerns and suspected drug activity.

Inside the home, officers found Blake Chaney and Karen Dana Chaney, along with two children, ages 3 and 11. Officers also located Anthony Dorrell hiding in a closet. All individuals were detained without incident.

Officers reported the home was in “filthy and unsanitary” condition, with trash, debris and insect infestation throughout the residence. Investigators found controlled substances believed to be fentanyl, along with drug paraphernalia including syringes, prescription bottles and plastic baggies.

A large amount of U.S. currency, drug-related materials and suspected stolen property were allegedly found in a bedroom identified as belonging to Blake Chaney, the affidavit states. Investigators also recovered two AR-15-style rifles and multiple magazines. Both Chaney and Dorrell are convicted felons and are prohibited from possessing firearms, according to the affidavit.

Officers noted the firearms and drugs were accessible to the children, creating a “substantial risk of serious bodily harm.” The children were taken into Oklahoma Department of Human Services custody.

Blake and Karen Chaney and Dorrell were all arrested. Blake and Kara were arrested on complaints of child neglect, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Dorrell was charged with possession of controlled substance and obstruction.

Blake Chaney received a bond of $250,000, Karen Chaney’s  bond was set at $150,000, and Dorrell later bonded on a personal recognizance bond.
