IKEA announced plans to open its first Oklahoma store in 2026, selecting a smaller-format location in south Tulsa as part of the company’s ongoing expansion strategy.
The 51,000-square-foot store will be built at Tulsa Hills Shopping Center in Tulsa, according to a company press release issued Feb. 17. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
The Tulsa location will mark IKEA’s first store in the state. Traditional IKEA stores typically span about 300,000 square feet, but the company has recently shifted toward smaller locations designed to offer quicker access to popular products and services.
Customers at the Tulsa store will be able to purchase roughly 3,000 home furnishings and accessories for immediate take-home, along with about 200 small furniture items. The store will also feature design support, with associates available to help shoppers plan and customize home spaces.
IKEA said the Tulsa location will include a food offering with many of the retailer’s well-known items, including meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs and cinnamon buns.
The new store is part of a broader U.S. expansion that includes planned locations in Los Angeles, Chicago and Fort Collins. Additional stores have also been announced for Huntsville; University Park; Phoenix; Rockwall; the Chantilly/Dulles area; and Houston-Webster.
The announcement was included in IKEA’s 2025 Annual Summary, which reported $5.3 billion in total sales and more than 61 million in-store visits during the fiscal year despite broader economic challenges.
The company has not yet released details on construction timelines or local hiring for the Tulsa store, saying more information will be shared closer to the opening date.
