The City of McAlester Water Department will temporarily shut down operations at the water treatment plant starting at 8 a.m. Feb. 24, 2026 for 6-8 hours to complete the final piping connections associated with the High Service Pump (HSP) Project.
This brief shutdown is necessary so crews can connect the remaining piping to the main distribution header for High Service Pumps 2 and 3. Completing this step allows staff to properly align the pumps and motors as the project moves toward its final phase.
What This Means for Residents and Water Customers:
• Water towers will be full prior to the shutdown.
• Water pressure is not expected to be impacted.
• Customers should not experience service interruptions.
In a Facebook post, the City says they “appreciate your patience as we continue making long-term improvements to McAlester’s water infrastructure to ensure reliability and efficiency for our community.”
