A McAlester man is facing multiple federal charges involving the sexual exploitation of a minor and child sexual abuse material.
Federal prosecutors say Stephen Dale Homer, 57, of McAlester and a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, has been charged with production of child sexual abuse material, international production of child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material, and attempted tampering with evidence.
According to charging documents, Homer is accused of using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of that conduct. Prosecutors also allege he coerced a minor to engage in sexually explicit activity outside the United States, with those images later transported into the country.
Authorities further allege Homer possessed images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12.
In addition, Homer is accused of attempting to destroy records in an effort to impair their use in an official proceeding.
The case was investigated by the FBI offices in Tulsa and Charlotte, along with the Federal Air Marshal Service, the Tulsa Police Department, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ashley Robert and Nathan Michel are prosecuting the case, with assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina.
