A former Cleveland County man is seeking clemency for the murder of a 10-year-old girl that he committed nearly 20-years ago. Kevin Underwood is set to be executed on Dec. 19th this year after the abduction and murder of Jamie Rose Bolin that occurred back in 2006.
According to Underwood’s confession, Underwood lured the young girl into his residence to play with his pet rat before knocking her unconscious with a cutting board and choking her to death. Underwood’s attorneys argue that he was bullied as a young kid and had a bad home life.
They cite those as reasons why clemency should be granted to allow Underwood to spend his life in prison. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond released a statement recently stating that “Kevin Underwood is a deeply evil monster who committed an unthinkable murder that took a 10-year-old child away from her parents and loved ones,” Drummond said. “The death penalty is the only appropriate punishment in this case, and I urge the Pardon and Parole Board to reject clemency and ensure justice for Jamie.”
Underwood’s execution is still set to take place in McAlester on Dec. 19th.
