The Pittsburg County Holiday Commission will host the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, followed by the annual Unity Banquet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at McAlester High School cafeteria.
The federal holiday, observed on the third Monday of January, honors the life and work of Dr. King, who led the fight for civil rights and equality through nonviolent resistance. His “I Have a Dream” speech remains a powerful symbol of his vision for an inclusive society.
