Parks and Recreation crews began installing new playground equipment at Mullen Park Tuesday, the first step in a major renovation project.
The improvements will include a 4,500-square-foot splash pad, a StoryWalk, and the planting of 50 Oklahoma native trees. The splash pad will feature nine above-ground features, 16 ground sprays, and 11 interactive elements, making it larger than the one at Hunter Park.
Funding is split between federal grants and local sources. A new restroom is planned closer to the splash pad, following the demolition of the old swimming pool and bathrooms. City officials hope the upgrades will create a greener, more inviting park for the community.
